Background
As a sole-proprietor, Kelly Fleming has put her distinctive mark on every aspect of the winery that bears her name. On a 300-acre property in the Calistoga AVA, at the end of Pickett Road, a stretch known for some of the best and oldest vines in the valley, stands a stone structure that looks like it might been built in Tuscany or Provence over 100 years ago. Stepping inside, one finds a modern fermentation tank room, entertaining spaces, a restaurant-grade kitchen, and access to a 7,000 square foot cave whose exposed surfaces reveal kaleidoscopic patterns of compressed volcanic soils. These spaces are just as elegant and understated as the limited production wines produced there — just like Kelly herself!

Still Photography

Goal
Kelly asked Build Pictures to create a portfolio of still photographs of the winery’s social spaces, the cave, her private wine library, and, of course, her wines. The goal of the shoot was to create a collection of timeless images to draw from for current and future branding and marketing campaigns, as well as membership allocation communications.

Outcome
Over the course of one day, we spent time capturing images with Kelly and on our own reveling in and photographing all the beauty of the architectural details, materials, surfaces, and brand designs that embody the winery’s classic essence.
