Songs of Gratitude
Music Performance / Branding
Background
When Festival Napa Valley realized that their annual ten day live celebration of classical music, opera, and dance would not be happening due to COVID-19, they pivoted to a virtual concert model. They asked us to collaborate with their in-house creative team to re-imagine what their festival could be in a new distanced world. The goal of the film was to keep alive the Festival’s mission of “enriching the region’s cultural vitality and making the arts accessible to all” and to explore the theme of gratitude as a response to the unimaginable hardship many faced during 2020.
Challenges
After delays due to wildfires, we embarked, with all necessary health and safety precautions, on filming a series of live performances at iconic locations across Napa Valley. The film weaves together the musical sequences with visual montages, scripted narration, an on-screen host, and additional remotely produced content.
Results
The completed show premiered as a one-night only on-line event with thousands in the U.S. watching and over a million views in China. Songs of Gratitude will be broadcast on public television in Spring 2021.
