Background
As the first ever international online contemporary art fair, VIP asked us to create a film that served two purposes: to create a brand identity for the fair and to explain how their interactive website functioned.
Challenges
Our challenge was to find a way to create a dynamic film that would bring the virtual fair to life. To do so, we animated the fair’s still assets: the VIP logo, pages from the website (still in the process of being constructed), and a library of contemporary artworks. Working closely with art fair principals, we established the film’s structure, a narration script, and storyboards to lay out the precise design and flow of the motion graphics. A second extended version of the film included interviews with several prominent gallery directors and live action footage showcasing their art collections.
Results
VIP Art Fair included the completed films as part of their digital press kits. The film was also projected on a giant wall at the New York City launch party attended by hundreds of gallerists, collectors, and artists. The response was so great that the art fair’s website crashed temporarily on the day it launched.
